It is with great enthusiasm we celebrate Monterey Consultants, Inc. turning 25 this month. Our founder, Gary Muñoz, laid the foundation for Monterey back in 1997 when he applied for his Small Business Administration (SBA) 8(a) certification. Upon acceptance, Gary launched the company and received his first contract from Tony DeLuca on September 1, 1997. We remember this day as a momentous one. Cheers to you Monterey!

Great companies are built by great leaders. Following Gary’s retirement in 2013 Bill Pollard took over as CEO and co-owner with Mike Knipper, who serves as our President. Because of their tenacity Monterey has experienced an explosive period of expansion and change. In 2016 Monterey partnered with QTC (a Leidos subsidiary) to win a multi-year subcontract. This contract allows us to administer a nationwide network of physicians that perform compensation and pension exams for American’s veterans. Additionally, under Bill’s leadership, multimillion dollar efforts were led to reduce the time between need identification to contract award by an average of 12% for the Veteran Affairs office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization. Other noteworthy contracts include Red-Flag Rescue, USDA Farm Services BPA, and GSA’s Category Management.

As we prepare for the future, we plan to continue to expand upon our recent successes. Last year alone, Monterey medical providers performed over 58,000 exams for American veterans and our medical records team retrieved over 650,000 medical records. By doing this we helped to ensure Veterans received compensation and pension related benefits. We also hope to expand and leverage our network of over 460 medical providers in 41 states for work with the National Guard and Reserve units, the Department of Labor, the FBI, Secret Service. On the acquisition side of the business, Monterey is expanding into State/County/Local Procurement and Acquisition Support. In the past two years alone, Monterey has helped process over 500 contract actions totaling $2 billion for state clients. These opportunities excite Monterey, and our plan is to take these challenges head on to deepen our dynamic plans for the future.
