Monterey was founded in 1997 by Air Force veteran Gary Muñoz, whose entrepreneurial vision and commitment to service shaped the company’s mission-driven culture. After retiring from the United States Air Force, he launched Monterey and secured the company’s first contract that same year. What began as a small firm has grown into a trusted procurement services company supporting federal, state, and local agencies nationwide. In 2016, Monterey expanded into medical disability examinations through its Department of Veterans Affairs contract. Today, through Monterey Medical, the company partners with more than 700 credentialed providers to deliver diagnostic-only exams nationwide for the VA and agencies including the Department of Labor and Department of Defense.
